Trench Coat

Movies have glamorized Trech coats for decades. Who can forget Audrey Hepburn's beige trench in "Breakfast at tiffany's", Angelina Jolie's black trench in "Mr.& Mrs. Smith". Trech coat is another classic wardrobe staple piece. There are variety of cuts, fits and styles available. I would consider it as an investment piece, so it would be wise to shop with few tips.

My tips while shopping for a trench coat are:
  • Choose the cut which suits your body type. For ex., if you bottom heavy choose a A-line or skirt style coat. If you want to fault your figure go for a fit close to your body.
  • Single breasted coats are more suitable for top heavy girls/women. Double breasted is good to enhance your top and give a illusion of additional cup size.
  • Length of the trech coat is important. Choose above knee or around thigh length to achieve chic look. Petite women should avoid long length as it would overwhelm and make them look shorter.
  • Color of the trench coat is tricky. If you want a classic look stick with neutral colors like Beige, Black, Khakhi etc., I would suggest pick a neutral color which compliments your skin tone and goes well with your wardrobe.
  • Bright colors and patterns like Red, Orange, Floral print, Checkered print, Navy Blue are good options. They are fun options which gives a fresh look.
